Because eating disorders, as do all addictions, effect all significant people in the sufferer's life, information is geared towards all involved. The sections addressing boundries, do's & don'ts and "hidden behind an eating disorder" are particularly relevant and thought-provoking.

The American Anorexia/Bulimia Association, Inc - With the goal of increasing the public's consciousness of Eating Disorders-their prevalence, the early warning signs and symptoms-this site provides a wealth of information for sufferers, their families and friends about effective treatments.

Better Health Menopause Profiles - A nice collection of information, symptom list, FAQs, and links geared for everyday access. (rather than health professional use).

Breast Cancer Information Service - A wealth of information about Breast Cancer including FAQs, links to additional information sources, support groups, national listing of treatment centers, instructions for BSE (breast self-exam).

Breast Cancer Treatment Guidelines for Patients - This page was created by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) and the American Cancer Society to provide patients and the general public with state-of-the-art cancer treatment information in understandable language. It is intended to assist a patient's dialogue with their physician.

BODY IMAGE BETRAYAL AND RELATED ISSUES - A site dedicated to those struggling with Eating Disorders and the issues that foster and potentially cause these illnesses. It is a primarily a way for people to learn to use their voices and not their bodies to grow, live and change.

BodytalkMagazine.com - A very slick pro-woman site promoting positive body image and health issues... with NO fashion police!

Domestic Violence - This site provides resources for victim assistance, stories of survivors and abusors, faqs, etc. What makes it so unique is that it is run by husband (abuser)/wife(survivor) team in hopes of breaking the cycle of violence.

Domestic Violence Information Depot - Great resource site which defines the progression of violence in and characteristics of an abusive relationship, how to identify an abuser, as well as the role of religion in abuse. Also included is a reading list, message board and links to other informative sites for women.

Healing Hurting Hearts - This is a powerful site dedicated to recovery. Amoung the issues addressed are Domestic Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and Child Abuse. Recovery resources on the site include survivor stories and support links.

Longevity Resources Int'l. - resource site with informative articles and tips on everything from hormone replacement therapy, healthy aging, and nutrition.

Macular Degeneration Help Center - a comprehensive online resource dedicated to age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a debilitating condition affecting nearly 20% of the population over age 60 and up to 40% of seniors over age 75. The site complies with Web access guidelines, so viewers with low vision and/or using assistive devices can easily access the material.

Menopausal Hormone Replacement Therapy - Complete discussion of menopause and the benefits and concerns of Hormone Replacement Therapy. Provided on CancerNet from the National Cancer Institute.

Missouri Osteoporosis Foundation - A comprehensive site covering an explanation of osteoporosis, prevention, risk factors, testing, and support groups.

National Domestic Violence Hotline - links individuals to local help. The nationwide database includes detailed information on domestic violence shelters, other emergency shelters, legal advocacy and assistance programs, and social service programs. One call summons immediate help, in English or Spanish, 24 hours a day, seven days each week.

Once Upon Opening Pandora's Box - This wonderful site was created by a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. The focus is remembering, understanding, and recovering, and in the process helping survivors and promoting awareness of abuse. The content and artwork are powerful, and at times, the message is uncomfortable to read, but what strength there is in the truth!

PMSing Woman - an online support group of women who suffer from PMS. Connect with other PMSing women through our message boards, mailing list & monthly newsletter. There is also a wealth of information on gynecological issues such as Toxic Shock, Endometriosis, and Dysmenorrhea.

Survivors of Stalking, Inc - S.O.S. is a grassroots, non-profit, member based organization operated entirely by volunteers, most of which are past victims of stalking. This site's goal is to educate the public, S.O.S. members, and targets of stalking through publications, S.O.S. Newsletters, community education, and national public awareness. This is a very sobering site, as well as a worthwhile resource.

The Body:Women and HIV/AIDS - a wealth of articles covering women-specific treatments, prevention, pregnancy and newborn issues, and support. Some articles are scientifically based, ie updates on the latest findings, while others address the disease on a personal/social level. This site is a comprehensive resource.

The Breast Cancer Resource Center - This is the American Cancer Society's comprehensive site providing FAQs, the latest studies, prevention and treatment information. It is the place to begin investigating Breast Cancer.

The Sun Mountain Group - A public/private partnership dedicated to advocating adult women's health issues in Washington state. Through targeted initiatives and public private sector collaborations, The Sun Mountain Group is dedicated to raising awareness about the health risks for women over forty and creating prevention strategies to improve their health.

Tides of Life - A women's health and support site, particularly relating to empowerment, hormonal balance and healthy lifestyles. The library contains a wealth of articles addressing women's health concerns and therapies from a variety of authors.

Women's Health Hotline - an independent, commercial-free newsletter created to foster awareness of important women's health issues.
