While working with a client recently, I was reminded how easy it is to forget who we are as an individual. Anxiety is very good at hijacking our identity and forcing us to believe that we become something other than ourselves - that we become anxiety itself.
There is something wonderfully reflective about a new year: it's another chance to get it right.
At the beginning of each calendar year I separate my life into five important areas: physical, emotional, professional, familial and spiritual. I analyze honestly how I'm doing in each category - well, of course I do; it's my business! Today let me help you to analyze your life.
Could you do it? Have you ever thought or fantasized about it? Tell the truth, have you ever sat and imagined what your life would be like if you sold all your belongings and moved to a brand new life? Where would you go; to live near a beach, to the desert, to a small quiet town from the city or a foreign country? Sounds a little extreme doesn’t it and probably not for everyone although I do know one person who has done this and lately I am hearing rumblings and reading about an increasing number of people who are considering it, doing it or at least talking about it.
It is actually fairly logical - happiness is ever-changing. On sober moments we realize it: it is really not much use to strive toward lasting happiness. There will always be something that comes along to interfere with our plans, and force them in a different direction.
Happiness isn't as difficult to obtain as we think. It's not a matter of possessions, income or what the media defines as success. It's a matter of choice and perspective.

It is positive and helpful to have goals and clarity about what we want in life, the problem is that when we don't get what we think we "should" have, we get angry, disappointed, obsessed, resentful, frustrated, depressed...!! When we are stuck, there is no flow of abundance that pours into life only hurdles to overcome...
