Every time I give a talk about life transition, someone invariably wants to say, "I believe happiness is inside us. If you can't be happy here, you can't be happy anywhere." I have to resist the temptation to shout, "Aaargh!"

Finances

To avoid financial abuse, Khalfani recommends establishing boundaries in your relationships as early as possible. For instance, the first time a friend asks for money to get out of a jam, it’s OK to help him or her out. But if they come back for a “loan” a third or fourth time, especially in a relatively short period of time, clearly a pattern is being established. That’s the time to express that you’d prefer not to mix friendship and finances, in order to avoid potential problems later.

Career

Almost everybody, no matter how confident they may seem, has a great fear of the unknown.  Everybody has his own anxieties and combating fear is such a great challenge for everyone. For some, it may even be a source of entertainment as portrayed in the hit reality TV show “Fear Factor”  Anxiety is something not just shown on TV, it is something very real.

In the past 30 years, women have made enormous strides in the workplace, which has paved the way for relationships where the woman makes more money than the man.
