Fighting Breast Cancer

How can you contribute to the fight against breast cancer? By supporting the organizations and programs listed below, your consumer dollars become a powerful ally to all women.

This list was compiled with the help of my sister-in-law Julie, a breast cancer survivor, and her friend, Deborah Pollard. If you know of additional opportunities to promote Breast Cancer awareness and support the search for a cure, please contact me. Although October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, this page this list will remain on site until it is no longer necessary.

  • Save Lids to Save Lives - Select Yoplait yogurt cups with special pink lids. Yoplait will donate 10 cents - up to $500,000 - to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation for every pink lid you saved and mailed in by December 1, 2000. For more info
  • Continue to buy Breast Cancer stamps at the post office For more info

  • Lee National Denim Day hopes to raise $6 million by asking businesses to let employees wear denim to work on Friday, Oct. 6th in exchange for $5 donations to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. For more info
  • The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. Avon has created a special pin ($3.00 each), candle ($3.50) and is coming out with pink ribbon pen to mark Breast Cancer Awareness. In addition to fund-raising products, Avon sponsors a a sixty-mile, three-day fundraising walk for breast cancer. All proceeds go to breast cancer education programs and medical research.
