SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR PEACE IN KOSOVO BY ADDING "PEACE RIBBON"
GRAPHIC TO YOUR WEB SITE
Townsend, Mass - Web site owners wishing to show their
support for the people of Kosovo and the military personnel
involved in the hostilities can place a new "peace ribbon"
graphic on their web site. The graphic can be picked up at http://www.womanlinks.com.
Catie Hayes, founder of WomanLinks.com, an empowering community for women, created the ribbon.
"It's a symbol of support for a peaceful resolution of the situation in Kosovo, for the sake of the Kosovar people
and the international military personnel and their families who find themselves in the middle of these hostilities,"
Hayes said.
The idea for the ribbon came from Hayes's WomanLinks.com e-mail discussion list, where women from three different countries shared opinions about the Kosovo conflict. One common thread in every perspective was the women's hope for peace for all involved, Hayes said.
"The ribbon was created as a result of revulsion at the events in Kosovo as well as the direct effect on the lives
of many members of WomanLinks.com with family in the military. It was created as a way to urge all governments to focus on
peace," according to Hayes.
"The graphic (a red ribbon bearing the word "peace" in white over a gray map of Kosovo) represents elements of the conflict
and how they bind the international community together. The red of the ribbon is symbolic of the violence and bloodshed of
people on both sides of the hostilities. The gray of the map represents the confusion in the region and the white "peace"
covering the ribbon shows by contrast the ultimate goal and only acceptable solution," Hayes said.
The ribbon will be available until a lasting peace is found in Kosovo. The only requirement is that it be linked to the
WomanLinks.com Kosovo Resource Page at
http://www.womanlinks.com/wlglobal.shtml#kosovo.
This page features a collection of links to informational sites covering news, refugee aid programs and military briefs.
Hayes welcomes submissions of additional resource links related to the Kosovo conflict. Send them to mailto:webmaster@womanlinks.com.
